Kari Brotherton, CPA Associate As a CPA and an attorney, Kari’s practice focuses on estate and tax planning, including presenting, drafting and implementing plans; gift planning; business planning and advice, including starting and restructuring businesses, business transactions, succession planning and compensation planning; tax research and problem solving; responding to IRS notices; tax return preparation and review for trusts and estates; and reviewing accounting records.

Prior to joining Ryan, Swanson, & Cleveland, Kari worked with a Spokane CPA firm and as CFO of Brotherton Automotive Group, which included Lexus of Seattle, Brotherton Cadillac (formerly Frederick Cadillac), Land Rover Seattle, Land Rover Eastside, Land Rover Spokane and Frederick Collision Center. She worked with individuals and small businesses in many tax and accounting capacities. She prepared tax returns and financial statements, designed and implemented internal controls, and advised in personal tax and financial planning. She also gained experience in buying and selling real estate, exploring development ideas, and facilitating the growth, purchase and sale of businesses.

Background

Kari was born in Walla Walla, Washington. She moved to Seattle in 1984, spent time in Pullman and Spokane, and moved back to Seattle in 1999. She lives in Magnolia, a community that she loves and has become deeply connected to. Kari enjoys spending time with her daughter, Mary-Katheryn, as well as with her family and friends.
