Our Tax Group provides comprehensive tax planning and advice for individuals, assisting them with tax audits, appeals to administrative agencies and court litigation.

In addition to our extensive knowledge of tax law, all of our Group’s attorneys have corporate and general business law experience as well, which allows us to better meet all of our clients’ needs and objectives. We also work closely with our clients’ accountants and financial advisors to structure transactions, comply with tax reporting, and promote client interests in a variety of matters.

Specific Experience:

We assist individuals in achieving business objectives while minimizing their tax costs. We advise individuals on personal income tax issues, including charitable giving and business succession problems, and assist buyers and sellers in structuring “tax deferred” like-kind Section 1031 exchanges.

Joel’s practice includes supervising everything from simple to complex probates and the preparation of federal estate tax returns. He also assists in obtaining business visas, classification, permanent residency and citizenship for immigrants in the United States. Joel also works with immigrants to obtain temporary and permanent positions as executives, managers or specialists and he also advises on treaty rights and obligations for payment or non-payment of taxes.

Philip M. Roberts
Member
Phil has a business finance and real estate practice. In addition to helping clients organize, finance, buy and sell businesses, he represents clients on complex real estate transactions, including shopping center and other commercial real estate developments, and represents lenders on the financing of such transactions. His involvement includes the acquisition and financing of the properties, as well as the leasing activities associated with commercial projects. Phil finds the business/finance and real estate areas to be complementary to each other.
