Dan (born Portland, Oregon) joined Ryan, Swanson & Cleveland in 1956, served as Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Family Life Insurance Company from 1964-1985, and became active again in the law firm in 1985.   Before Dan retired from the firm in 2006, he was active in the business group.
